Schubert Foundation song recital

Elisa Maayeshi and Pieter Bogaert will give a recital for the Schubert Foundation. For this concert, Elisa and Pieter chose a number of themes that were dear to Schubert and later composers. They deal with loneliness, nature, the night, stories and of course love. In this recital some of Schubert's most famous songs will be connected to French works of later date, thus building a bridge between Vienna and France. For example, you will listen to the famous Schubert song Der Wanderer an den Mond and hear how Debussy sings about the moon. Or how Schubert tells the love story about Ganymede in Ganymed and Ravel takes you into Eastern spheres with the tale of Sheherazade.

Die sieben Todsünden & Der Kaiser von Atlantis

The Residentie Orkest and Dutch National Opera Academy perform Kurt Weill's Die sieben Todsünden and Viktor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis .

These two masterpieces from the 20th century form an unforgettable double bill that could not be more relevant, given its similarities to today's social and political situation. Kurt Weill' s Die sieben Todsünden tells the story of sisters Anna 1 and Anna 2, who commit the seven deadly sins in seven cities to save their families. Der Kaiser von Atlantis is a gripping parable about a war machine so destructive that even death refuses to do its job unless the emperor himself is willing to die first. Composer Viktor Ullmann wrote this work in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, but was deported to Auschwitz, where he was murdered, before its premiere. Elisa plays the role of Anna I in Kurt Weill's Die Sieben Todsünden. For more information and tickets, click here.
