La fedeltà premiata - Haydn

Haydn's operas are rarely performed in the Netherlands. Just how unfair that is can be heard in La Fedeltà Premiata, performed by the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century together with singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy. Joseph Haydn, Viennese grand master and contemporary of Mozart and Beethoven, is famous for his symphonies, but he also wrote many beautiful operas, specially composed for the brand-new theater in the palace of Eszterháza. La Fedeltà Premiata, composed in 1780, is one of his best musical theater works. The plot is both comical and serious, making for a very colorful and musically varied experience.

Haydn's music is core repertoire for the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, which specializes in playing historical instruments from the period when the work was written. The young singers of the Dutch National Opera Academy are the stars of the future, and together with the orchestra and a beautiful new staging, they deliver an evening to remember.
